Dawn of a
Daydream
With a little courage & creativity, your daydreams really can come true
WELCOME
Hi, I’m Stacey!
I’m a creative soul who is addicted to DIY. You will most often see me renovating my old fixer upper home on a budget, whether I’m transforming entire rooms, creating decor dupes, flipping furniture or learning how to use new power tools, I am constantly working on bringing the daydreams in my head to life.

What you will find here:
The world of social media can sometimes feel overwhelming so I created this little corner of the internet as a calm respite for those who want to explore my projects without filtering through hundreds of videos. My plan for this space is to fill it with all my DIY projects; big & small, new & old. You will find step by step tutorials, room renovation recaps and a breakdown of all my design decisions from paint choices to furniture.
Let's Stay in touch!
Don’t worry you will NOT be spammed with emails, but you will be the first to know any time a new tutorial or renovation update is posted.
"You won't see perfection here, in fact, you're more likely to see me mess up and try again, but I am here to prove with a little hard work and creativity you can create magical things"
Dawn of a Daydream

Advice for fellow daydreamers
Feel the fear & do it anyway.
Everybody is scared the first time they try something new and I promise you: I am no different.
I have been scared at some point during pretty much every project I have ever taken on, but you never know if you don’t try.
You are capable of magical things!

Frequently Asked Questions.
Dawn of a Daydream was created during a time there was a lot of uncertainty and grief in my life.
Ultimately the creation of this concept was a promise to myself to follow my daydreams wherever they may lead me, even if the thought of doing so terrified me.
If you want to find out more about this time, you’re in luck, I’m an open book and I wrote a whole blog post about it here.
That depends on how you look at it. I have always been drawn to anything creative and hands on. You would even catch me digging up the garden to create wildlife ponds as a child, much to my Mum’s dismay.
But when we bought our first home, was when I REALLY started DIYing. I picked my first power tool up at the beginning of the year and I haven’t looked back since!
DIY has given me the confidence to tackle new skills, helped me save money by taking on projects myself and challenged my creativity in such a fulfilling way!
My family live thousands of miles away, I have nobody to teach me these skills, everything I know has been learnt from the internet so trust me when I say, if I can teach myself to DIY so can you! Plus you have an advantage, you have already found this website, which means you are connected to the kindest DIY community who is happy to provide support and inspiration!
You’ve got this!
Of course! I definitely have this thought in the back of mind, especially since I don’t have any family nearby to teach me, but this just means I need to go into my projects twice as prepared!
I spend a lot of time researching, watching tutorials and talking with the DIY community, especially when I’m trying something new. The fear is still there, but I’m a strong believer that you should feel the fear and do it anyway. Trying new things is always a little nerve racking and DIY is no different but as long as you take the time to learn how to do it safely, everything else is fixable.
Don’t be scared to mess up, even then, you will likely learn something and you can always try again.
Disclaimer: Not all DIY projects are of equal risk, I do not recommend attempting electrical work without somebody qualified present to teach you.
Since my family and friends live thousand of miles away, everything I have learnt has been from the internet.
I watch tutorials, I read manuals, I talk to people in the DIY community, I do as much research as possible and even practice using the tool WITHOUT the battery, before I turn it on for the first time to make sure I go in feeling confident and safe.
The most important consideration for power tools is safety, so wear your PPE and take your time.
We are all more capable than we realize.
I did not! In fact, just like my DIY skills, my design skills also came from the internet.
I actually have a really hard time defining my style and whilst I am no professional designer, I have transformed some pretty run down spaces into cozy rooms that match my aesthetic and fit my family’s needs.
With every room I design I get a little better and when I’m stuck for ideas, Pinterest works wonders at sparking inspiration!
I use Canva!
When designing, I first think about how to best utilize the space. How will my family use this room?
Once I have an idea of what I want to include, I head to Pinterest and create a mood board of anything that inspires me. You will start to see a theme, whether it’s a certain color you’re drawn to or a specific wall treatment, these are going to be your key details.
I take a photo of the space I am planning to makeover and set that as the background on Canva. Then I take my inspiration photos, and layer them over the top and simply play around with different ideas until I settle on something I love.
Finally it’s time to DIY!
