Diary of a

Daydreamer

Welcome to
Dawn of a daydream

Your go-to Hub for DIY tutorials, Home renovation inspiration and budget friendly design tips!

An introvert online?

I never had any intention of being a content creator or posting myself online. In fact if you had told me a year ago, that that’s what future me would be doing, I would have said it was absurd! Sometime into my DIY renovation I was drawn to the idea of creating videos to document my journey but I could have never imagined just how much joy it would bring me!

I soon found myself part of a close-knit community of creative individuals whose daydreams were just as big as mine. We swapped design inspiration, discussed projects and gave each other advice and support. I found true friendships in this community and for that I will be ever grateful to the world of social media for connecting us.

The merciless algorithm

Whilst social media is a great place to connect, it is not the most organized space, navigating the content can be hard.  Even finding posts on my own profile was challenging, scrolling back to find a 3 month old video was frustratingly inefficient. I could spend days working on a tutorial that people were excited for, only to have it lost in an endless feed a week later, with them never having seen it. You are at the mercy of the algorithm. After all, this is their house, you’re just renting the space.

So why a website?

I wanted to create my own little corner of the internet. A space for like-minded creatives to explore without feeling overwhelmed. So I googled how to purchase a domain and just like that www.dawnofadaydream.com was born! … Well, not quite. See my daydreams are big – most times bigger than my experience – but that’s not about to stop me figuring out a way to make them come true!

I know nothing about web design so I have spent the past two months researching, watching videos and basically spending a lot of my time hunched over my laptop with my head in my hands, trying to learn how to build a website. Turns out it’s pretty hard.

But here we are. Today is the day it goes live.

What will you find here

Since this space originated from the need for organization you can expect to find a blend of creativity and efficiency. Whether you’re here for a specific DIY tutorial, to find the paint colors of my latest room renovation or simply want a little friendly encouragement, I want this website to be a welcoming, calming experience for all those who visit.

If you want specifics just keep reading!

Tutorials

I’m no expert DIYer but that means that all my projects are attainable. If I can do them, so can you!

We all learn best in different ways and so I plan on presenting the my tutorials in multiple formats. Want to see the full process, all the details, tips and tricks? Head to my stories! Need a more condensed version? I’ll break it down into easy steps and key info. Don’t worry, you won’t have to go hunting, everything will be easily accessible via the Projects Page.

Design Details

I spend weeks designing my spaces before I renovate and I keep on tinkering even when they’re “done”. Luckily for you all the hard work is done and you can easily browse for inspiration, paint colors, product links and more. The photo to the left is my most recent transformation, my family room. This space was was once a huge, awkwardly shaped empty room and now it’s the coziest, moody space, perfect for curling up with a book! You can find all the details for this space here. Eventually, every project I take on will have a page just like this, stay tuned for more!

Project Updates

Speaking of renovation projects, you can expect to see lots of updates on my current DIY adventures right here. I call this section Diary of a Daydreamer because it’s the part of this website where you can get to know me the most. Get a glimpse behind the finished scenes and polished tutorials and into the thoughts and feelings of this journey. Just like a diary. Guess what… you’re reading one right now!

I don’t just want this website to be a place of information but of community and support and I hope you will see that reflected heavily throughout this section.  If you want to be notified whenever more content like this is posted, I would love for you to subscribe.

Your voice matters

If you follow me on Instagram you will have probably seen this phrase numerous times and that’s because it’s true. Both on and offline you are important and here, in this little corner of the internet, not only will your thoughts be heard but they will be acted upon. I want this website to be a reflection not just of myself, but of those who visit so if you have any suggestions, if there’s a feature you want to see or a tutorial you have been waiting on, let me know and I will do my best to make it happen. There is a comment section on almost every page of this website, and this is a kind and creative community, so don’t be afraid to say hi. You might even make a friend or two.

Thank you for reading

Stacey
